Women's Championship: Michelle McCool vs. I would have prefered the match to have been longer so we could have seen what Sheamus could do against a real opponent, but I'd still give the match a 7.5 out of 10. DiBiase ran to help, but he too was attacked by Orton opening a huge door into the break up of Legacy and Orton. Both superstars had some high points and then my worst fears came into play.Ĭody Rhodes showed up and tried to hit Sheamus while the referee wasn't looking and got busted clear as day.Īs Sheamus made his way back into the ring, Orton nailed a huge RKO which easily got the biggest reaction from the crowd all night and then went for the pin when the ref called for the bell and announced that Sheamus was the winner by DQ.Īfterwards, Rhodes did his best to apologize but Orton was livid and attacked Rhodes. Sheamus looked somewhat credible from the start of the match and even seemed to use caution when he went after Orton. Well I have to admit that the match wasn't that bad. The B/R has been loaded with stories about this match, and I too wondered how two heels would pull off a great match.
I expected Miz to win dirty if he won at all, but the whole match just seemed out of sync, and the only real highlight was MVP hitting the playmaker after the match ended. The match was both short and really not that great to watch. I was looking forward to this match and it was a huge letdown. United States Championship match: The Miz vs. A slow start to the night, and I thought the match was about a 6.5 out of 10. Rollins - can't see him winning the Rumble at allĮdge - won in 2021 and would be an odd choice to win it againīobby - could work, but seems unlikely to meĭamien Priest - could be a cool midcard underdog to win, but I don't see him as "ready" for that spot yetīig E - I am assuming he will still be WWE Champion at this PPV and lead into WrestleMania with the titleĪnd then we have a nice mix of great talent that isn't really doing anything important or stand out: Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, Finn Balor.all great talent but all are either taking a break from top programs or sort of floating with no direction. Both hit some good spots, and in the end, Christian retained. Also considering that Brock Vs Roman can be assumed as the SmackDown title match, I don't see a lot of guys on RAW that could win the Royal Rumble. There is a big missing aspect to WWE right now where I really can't grasp any stories going long periods of time, and it just doesn't seem like there is a character whose arch is going to lead them to a Rumble victory. I might also be picking Brock because I can't see anyone else winning right now. I have heard some rumors about Brock Vs Roman at WrestleMania once again and it seems odd to me that Brock has yet to win a Royal Rumble match since his return.
I loved her first run and I still would love to see her back.įor the men's Royal Rumble match, I might have to go with Brock Lesnar as my pick. My real want for the Rumble winner has to be Ronda Rousey. She is also a performer who doesn't disappoint when she gets to her big matches. I think it would be great to add a Rumble win to her accomplishments.
Realistically, I think Sasha Banks winning the women's Rumble would be a great choice because she has a career that is already so decorated. In the 2000s and early 2010s, we had a long stretch there when wrestling fans could pretty well see who was going to win the Royal Rumble months before the event, but this year seems really different. Its getting closer and closer to one of our favorite times of the year.
